ok this is getting ridiculous
to put it simple NO MORE CHESS please, chess is banned on this topic its kinda stopping any other creative ideas to come true (i will still allow "chess-like" board games like arimaa)

Long time ago in a GLBasic Board Game competition, I coded SOLARIS (Captain Future), link to the real board game here: http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/1076/captain-future

After the game got completed codewise, I lost interest into coding its UI and SFX for doing action games. But it is still here and is fully playable :) .

Game is a 2-4 players game, no AI.
My designed mock looks like a mess and is using way too much of the gray tone, but I assure you it is a functional design!

Here is one img of the solo game +5 pixels on each border to try depict the real LCD, and an img of what it would look like if it was real...have fun :D

Edit: the cards are closed as it is a hot seat game with one handheld, and others can´t see your cards but the ones you apply on a turn. So when handheld is on your hands, you pressa button to show it all while hidding from the other 3 players

will try...
Screen Description:

+SOLARIS title
+Under title you have main game board X/Y grid:
.X goes from 1 to 12
.Y goes from A to N (no K)
.Dark rectangles are the planets
.Grey area is deep space, nothing happens there
.White marks on planets are player´s ships
.XY marker with full white square is the target of your current cards selected
.The holed white square is the mysterious rock

+On the right of the title, there is a square that depicts hows turn is up (4 players possible)
+On top right is player´s gauge depicting how many ships you have
+Under gauge, first 2 blocks depicts which stage of your turn you are in
+Under gauge on right, is what action you take on that stage (land, fire, card, skip, drop)
+On the lower left, you have player´s hand with 10 cards
+Above cards, you have a screen for animation on the action you took on that stage

Here is how the game plays:

+Each player gets 10 cards from draw deck, the deck is composed of the following cards:
.2 sets of numerical cards (1-12) (POSITION CARD)
.2 sets of lettered cards (A-N) (POSITION CARD)
.12 planet cards, one for each planet (POSITION CARD)
.4 joker cards, counts as a number, letter or planet card (POSITION CARD)
.2 attack through hyper space cards
.2 voyage though other dimensions cards
.4 mysterious rock cards

Your turn is composed of 2 stages where on each stage you can take the following actions:

+Land a ship on an empty planet space, requires 1 card that depict the position

+Attack, that is landing a ship over an enemy ship destroying it. It works this way:
.If you have the majority of ships on the planet, it requires 1 position card
.If you have the same amount or less on planet as the attacked enemy, then 2 position cards
.If you have no ship on the planet, it takes 3 position cards

+Use 1 special cards, as following:
.Mysterious rock
_Move the rock to any planet, number or letter
_Nothing happens on the planet or coord the rock is on, no attacks, no moves, nothing

.Attack through hyperspace
_Choose a target location and land a ship
_If target is occupied, that enemy ship returns to his hand, it is not destroyed

.Voyages through other dimensions
_Exchange locations between your ship and an enemy ship

+You can skip a stage, or you can use one stage to drop one card on the discard pile
+At the end of your 2nd stage, you draw remaining cards to fill your hand to 10 cards
+when the draw deck is over, the discarded pile is shuffled and becomes a new draw deck
+when any players last ship lands, each other player has one more turn and the game is over
.On the last turn of other players, no 3 cards attack is allowed

As game ends, this is how you count each´s score:

1pt for each ship on board

5pts for complete control of a big planet
4pts for complete control of medium planet
3pts for complete control of small planet

1pt if you have a majority on whatever planet

That is more or less the instructions for the game.
It may sound hard but it is pretty easy to learn.
It is also a very funny game full of trolling around friends.

Is the display capable of showing grey? I thought it is only b/w.
