My Own Gamebuino Clone

Postby inajob » Sat Mar 12, 2016 6:13 am

Hello
I made Gamebuino Clone. :)

Because of I didn't have Nokia5100 LCD, I used another one.
So, I hacked Gamebuino SDK.
The resolution of this LCD is 128x64, but many Gamebuino Game's are support only 84x48.

I was troubled in loading Games from SD Card.
Initially, I had used 4GB SD Card(this is SDHC), but Gamebuino Bootloader don't support this.
So I bought 1GB SD Card. This worked fine. (I want to hack Bootloader to support SDHC)

Thank you for publish this source code and schema. (I want to know this schema's Licence, is it free?)

I'm Japanese, sorry for my poor English.
(In Japan I can get Gamebuino's parts easily. Akihabara is good place for find electric parts!)

Hello

I made one more Gamebuino.

This gamebuino has OLED display. ;)
OLED display is very clear and high response. :o (this display is similar to Arduboy's one)

and this gamebuino can be run with only one AAA battery.
(steped up from 1.5V to 3.3V by HT7733)

Gamebuino is very fun! :D

Can you run the grey test on it? maybe it is possible to rock 4 shades with that oled screen.

This photo was taken running Setting game.

OLED is too fast response to show gray.
Dither pattern is clearly shown.

hmmm, I take you also tried different speeds and the non-pattern ones.
Well, if that fast, then I guess a 4 shades is possible.
Nice!

Above photo running "Setting app" which set color GRAY and draw a rectanble.
I don't know the other way to make half tone.

I made a gray testing utility a while ago: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=2058

The utility allows you to test different patterns of gray at different FPS. Maybe you could try it out and see if you can get a decent gray. It might be a good idea to recompile it with the latest version of the Gamebuino library to take advantage of possible new drawing performance updates.
