Stock USB not recognized by mac

Sun Aug 30, 2015 1:30 pm

I tried connecting my gamebuino to my mac with the stock usb but it didn't recognize it. When I tried using another micro usb cable my mac immediately said it found a new network interface called FT232R USB UART and asked to configure it. I don't think I'm supposed to configure it because it says it is for using your phone or something like that.

When I look into the system specs I find nothing whith the stock cable and this with the other:

FT232R USB UART:

Productcode: 0x6001
Fabrikantcode: 0x0403 (Future Technology Devices International Limited)
Versie: 6.00
Serienummer: A5045QPR
Snelheid: Maximaal 12 Mb/sec
Fabrikant: FTDI
Locatiecode: 0x04100000 / 4
Beschikbare stroom (mA): 500
Vereiste stroom (mA): 90

Somewhere on this forum i read a post by rodot that not all original cables support uploading/connecting. (Missing data lines??)
My gamebuino has the problem, that one line (tx?) is connected to usb shield - a short circuit. So I put tape around the shield of the connector and it works :)

Yeah, some of the stock usb cables only work for charging.
