In a near future, in 1996, two international companies fight against each other to reign on the pet dry food market. On one hand, Old Ram, the leader, promises in the advertising « A longer life for your beloved ones ». On the other hand, True Pasta, the challenger, comes up with a fresh « More tasty! More speed! More fun! ».

In the True Pasta laboratory, doctor Meggan drives the tests with some genetically modified animals to see what kind of dry food is the most exciting. At the end, the perfect formula will be used to produce meaty rings that will be eaten by cats and dogs in our sweet homes. True Pasta will shine over the world as the unique cooking chef for the furry kids.

A new hard working day begins for our little Square Nose, who is placed in the test chamber by doctor Meggan. She will mesure the time it takes for the squarrel to eat the 32 meaty rings and she will record it in her notebook. If Square Nose loses its time to make friendly contacts with the other animals in the box, it will receive a gentle electric shock, and the test will be considered a failure. That isn’t cruel, this is the scientific procedure!

So, what are you waiting for? Let’s go! Eat them all, Square Nose!

A: start
B: jump
DOWN: crouch (not very useful for the moment)

  • big old true pixels
  • no inertia (you run at your max speed as early as you press LEFT or RIGHT)
  • no scrolling (no bad surprise from something that was hidden out of the screen)
  • different jump heights
  • three levels, with their own different characters to meet
  • an in game time (to see if you beat your last try… or your friends)
  • random spawning for the meaty rings (no repetitive patterns)

ToChars by Crait. Tinyfont by Boti Kis. Squiddy by Aphrodite. Cross-compiling by Sorunome.

  • a true port on Gamebuino Meta
  • colors
  • hard mode
  • Square Nose merchandising $$$
  • what else?

Great ;) Take your time and good luck for your learning and creation.

I'll not experiment because, in my minds, i'll follow the creation of the Sokoban and will be sure to terminate it.

I'll maybe change names and gfx of the games i done before to follow quality plan

=> Pacman could be changed into a man, pacgome => gold piece, super pacgomme => axe, ghosts => ennemis and all with META palette and name changed from Pacman to Survivor...

Next if i have time i'll change Invaders.

Next i'll try to make Breakout conform to quality chart.

I would port Barbarian fighting game in Meta, i have renounced for the moment because it's could be licenced and so it's maybe not a good idea. The problem is that i like play on Meta to games i liked but as they are already existing, it's not so good. But i can just change name and have just barbarian's sprite fighting without reference to the old game. The good thing with that is that i have not to try to be like the old game and that i can do screens easier with just a life bar and a sprite for hits (and probably one option for blood or not). I don't know yet if i'll begin that for the moment but i'm not sure i could resist...

I like 1943 and Microcity (Dreamer3 will works on port) on Arduboy and i'll follow their port on Meta. I have play to 1943 when i was younger and if nobody port it, i think i'll try because this game is too good  ;)

I'll not be more long but to do that it's will already take some times to do this program, and i'm not sure i could not have any crazy idea before having complete it, and i have to change my job, change of town so i'll try to be more quiet... and will try to play all cool games made by community.

I admit this game is hard (I reached the end only once this morning on the Meta :-P ) But don't you feel true oldschool satisfaction when you win? Thank you for helping. I don't need help for the moment. I would like to make this game on my own the more as possible. I don't care if it is not done on time. I like to learn coding and control every pixel of my creation. If I have difficulties, I will ask you or the others. But feel free to experiment, or doing your own version of this game. You just can't make money with it without my permission.
