What is the difference between the Gamebuino Meta and another device running retropie?

I have a Tingbot, they're trying to get retropie running on it for us but there's only a single developer. Does the Meta run retropie? I see the community here is strong, so that may help deciding if I want to purchase it or not. Looks like there would be plenty of games to try on it as well.

Hi there!

The Gamebuino Meta is a Arduino-based system. Games are made by a the community, so they are all open-source and free.

We do not do emulation because there are huge licensing problems, in 99% of the cases it's illegal because you don't own the rights of the ROMs.

And yeah as ripper said we do not run Linux, it's a much simpler system. It's on purpose so it's easier to learn how to make games :)

But as you said there is a growing list of games. If there is one you wished to have, you make it ;)

And there is alot help in the communauty to create games.

Not yet on Meta, because the official launch is not yet done (and even, there is already people helpling others yet) but there was on the classic gamebuino and it's sure that the communauty will continue to help on the META to create games asw... The new things is that now Rodot have make a business with an important part of the job after making the console will be the educational. The team will make a serial of tutorials to help to progress in the game creation and the communauty is invited to make good tutorials too to complete this job. So if you read and follow all this tutorial and advises, with some imagination you can do remakes or better create your own games. After you'll have to hurry if you have an idea of classic game because some are prolifics and make amazing jobs on the games.

I'm not programmer and i have alot to learn but i have make my own game even i think i'll works again on it because after reading some of the informations i have learn some tips. So i'll work on my programm for the classic to be ready to update it when i'll receive my META. I like the idea to test creations of others and mine even i hope that others will give me advises or corrections to make it better.

Hey guys! Rodot- looks like you made an amazing device and it's awesome to see you as a frequent member on here. Jicehel- I'm excited about the tutorials! I'll give it a try, see what I can do. Hopefully someone can do a Mario remake! Supercrate looks awesome, as does cats and coins. Hopefully there's a pacman remake. Looks like i'll be going to work!

The META doesn't use an Operating System like a Raspberry Pi or the like. It uses the same processor as the Arduino Zero does. The only games it can play are games made explicitly for it. However, because it's so simple in terms of code, it's not hard to learn how to make simple games on it. Even if you've never programmed anything before. It's also considerably more powerful then the original Gamebuino (the 'Classic') without being much more difficult to understand since a lot of the hard work is done for you inside of the library.

I learned C on the classic. And as soon as I get my META, I'll scrounge up some of my unfinished Classic games and port them over
