Hi Gamebuinians,
Some of you might still be recovering from yesterday night, so I’ll try to keep it short. First of all, I wish you all a happy new year and hope Santa was nice to you.
Beta kits will start shipping real soon. Keep an eye on your mailbox for tracking numbers. Kits are still available to pre-order on the Gamebuino Shop.
Gamebuino nouveau is here!
Some of you might already have received the new Gamebuino REV4 I already told you about, as it started shipping before Christmas. Here’s what’s new.
Overall quality improvement. Since the Indiegogo campaign, I kept working on making the Gamebuino reliable and the best quality possible. Few months ago I met Kevin From Seeed Studios, here in France (and he loved sautéed frog’s legs!). Since then, we’ve been working together on this new revision 4 of the Gamebuino. It’s now made by Seeed Studios, they have been very professional and do care about making the best product possible. And trust me, you can tell the difference.
RX/TX LEDs bug fixed. They used to sometimes randomly light up when not connected to a USB port. They no longer do.
The battery is marked “180mAh” where it used to be marked “300mAh” (and “240mAh” before that), but actually the capacity mainly remains unchanged. Problem was that the previous supplier wasn’t quite honest about the batteries specs. So don’t worry, you’ll still get 8 to 24 hours of Paqman and other 8bit wonders out of your batteries.
The speaker has been changed for a piezo. A bit less louder, but sill enough to bother people on the bus
3.5mm audio Jack. Plug in headphones or blast chiptunes on huge loudspeakers (also handy not to bother people on the bus).
Battery connector. So it’s easy to replace the battery it if it wears out. Pro Tip: Keep you battery healthy, keep it charged.

Many of you must know about the International CES: “the Consumer Electronics Show® is the world’s gathering place for all who thrive on the business of consumer technologies“. This is where major products like smartphones, drones and virtual reality systems are released. This is also a place where you can meet hundreds of startups with fresh ideas. This is where you find partners to team up with.
The exciting news are, Gamebuino will be there. If you are too, let’s meet up!
Gamebuino was born in Saint-Etienne, France (and still lives there). This city used to be known for its arms industry and coal mining history …and later its soccer team.
Now, Saint-Etienne is moving toward design and entrepreneurship as it’s the only UNESCO City of Design in France. It will be hosting its 10st Design Biennale this year.
Now you’ve guessed it, Gamebuino will be there too: from the souvenir shop to the UX (User eXperience) laboratory, without forgetting the game coding workshops. Come and try the Gamebuino 2!
