Gruniożerca /ˈgru.ni.oʊˈʐɛr.t͡sa/ Meta is a port of a simple homebrew NES game. Help Grunio the Guinea Pig collect all the carrots!
The game is WIP, full version expected summer 2018 with a very limited boxed collector's edition! The game will of course, remain free and open-source.
This version tries to improve as much as possible on the NES original by using as many Meta features as deemed suitable.
The Meta version includes animated bitmaps (WIP due to a fixed glitch in bitmap cropping routine of the pre-release Meta library), sound support, colourful graphics and addictive gameplay.
Full version will include a full campaign mode, unlockable levels, achievements and more!
How to play: press A to change between Grunio (black) and Dida (white) and try to collect as many veggies of matching colours as possible. Three mistakes and you're out. The game gets more difficult the better you do.

Fun little game, the graphics are cute, i like how the background light color changes according to the carrots!
That being said, a QUIT
option that calls gb.changeGame();
isn't really needed, as you can always do that via the home menu. I'm not telling you to remove it, i'm trying to inform you ^.^

Hi, thanks. I'm aware of the fact that you shouldn't have to quit via changeGame -- it's stated in the repository. I was just missing one Menu option before I add the achievements so it's sort of a placeholder for now. Will be replaced later with a different selection. Thanks for the comment!

Super cute . I agree it’s a bit too fast in the second level, little guinea friend‘s legs are too short to reach some carrots in time?

Cool little game with good gfx. I'm agree with others, a little too hard when you go after 50 nut it's can be wanted to don't let the game be too long but it's maybe a little too quick to stop the game, you could maybe increase drop rate or something before making them fall so fast (sorry for my poor english level) but i like this game else.

Thank you. I will work on adjusting the difficulty. I'm planning to add a full campaign mode with unlockable levels and increasing difficulty so once finished it will play much better!

Thanks, it's just a little thing I promised my viewers as they asked for a boxed version of the game.
The plan is to make about 200 copies of the game on a microSD card. With a printed sticker logo, sold in a DVD box with a bonus DVD with artwork, music, a Windows port of the game and some extras. On top of that a printed manual, stickers, a lanyard, and a couple tiny extras for about £10/€10. All in a collectable cardboard box!
Of course the game itself will always be free, it's just something to put on your shelf.
There will also be 5-10 special editions that will include a 3D Printed Grunio figurine. Similar to the prototype below, just a bit nicer. Price unconfirmed as of yet :)
I was actually considering contacting Gamebuino as well to see if I could sell a few bundles of game + console, as a lot of people asking for a box don't even have a Meta (they just want to own everything Grunio related -- it's kind of becoming a brand ;) ) so they could buy both as well. :)
As the game is free, I am planning to sell it without profit, just at the cost of manufacturing.
If you would like to grab a boxed Gamebuino game, keep checking this thread every now or then. :)

I love the idea of a special edition. For starters, we sell stickers of some games, and 50% of the money goes back to you as Gamebuino vouchers.
We decided to sell goodies of the games rather than micro SD cards, because as you said they would be available online anyway, and we think it's wasteful to sell a micro SD card when users already have one.
What we could rather do, is a special edition of Gamebuino (including the micro SD card with extra digital content), and create a special fur skin instead of the regular wood one. Or goodies. Or stuff. Ping me on discord (link in the footer) to discuss about this :)

Aurélien, i have no idea of it's a good idea but instead of fur skin, for people who want it, why not make a non transparent white case with no backpack holes (as not all want extend their META) but a flat back to be able to have a mono block skin with the picture of their favorite game ?
or else i thought about a part to add on the back to make it flat between the have circles to let them put their big sticker skin. ONe more time it's just one of my crazy idea and it's maybe too expensive or not a good idea.
NEW 6 years ago
Well with a non-transparent case you wouldn't be able to see the screen, and modifying the shape of the case would require to 3D print it which would be very expensive ?

Maybe just put the name on the title screen, not the icon? Just a thought ^.^ Looks great, though.
