Yes a cool new game. More fun than the standard Snake (and nice too).

Thanks for your comments and upvotes, I'm glad you like it!

I just uploaded a web version that you can play in your browser, it's the same as the Gamebuino version. I'd love to hear how it runs on different people's systems. I think there might be a problem with the Z key on AZERTY and QWERTZ keyboards, and there's no touch controls so it's desktop-only for now.

Beautiful game! Players must know that you don't lose when your "lighting snake" touches himself, not as in the original Snake. So it is not too hard to play.

Thanks! I might make it so the snake collides with itself in the next version, haven't decided yet. Enemy snakes are also a thought, in which case it might be better to only collide with other snakes and not with yourself. Gonna get back to work on this game soon, stay tuned :-)

Hey, I'm back to work on Neonrattle! Here's a preview of upcoming version 0.2.0:

The snake collides with itself now, but it's not an instant death instead it just loses life points. There's also new animations and lots of under-the-hood improvements. Hoping to release 0.2.0 later next week, after I make a couple of levels.

Thanks for the nice feedback and upvotes everyone, your support means a lot! I decided to keep working on the next version a little longer before I release it. Now there's 32 maps, in-game minimap, levels menu, and hiscores.

Here's a fresh screenshot and a short video:

Stay tuned, download coming a little later this week :-)

Yes, great. The game was already very nice so if you perfect it... its can only be greater. Good news and we'll wait next version downloadable.

Nice gameplay improvements since the first version! And still very polished technically and aesthetically.

Well done Alex! Great technical achievement! I really like the transparency effect. I guess you did the color overlay calculations by yourself with an opacity index (?) I didn't see anywhere the possibility to manage it with the gb.display library... The result is magnificent. Very nice work! Thank you for your quality contributions:-) You offer us some great examples of what can be done with the META. This console is full of surprises!

Thanks, glad y'all like it!

@steph Yep, custom alpha-blended routines that write to the pixel buffer at gb.display._buffer. The ARM chip does single-cycle multiplication and fast bit shifts, which do all the heavy lifting :-)

Okay. Thank you! Thank you! I will try to do it in High Resolution, I see very well how to do it.
