The game's name has changed recently to Splatoon Meta. The game is in a prototype state, there's no actual gameplay, just a demo of the inking mechanic demo.

Hi! I've some news about Splash Box but first, I need to introduce what it is.
What is Splash Box Splatoon Meta?
It's a 2D port of the popular Nintendo game named Splatoon 2 using the engine and characters from my previous game named BigBlackBox. The main goal is to ink the most amount of turf with your team's color.

// Base engine update
- New collision engine! You can no longer pass through walls.
- Faster movement! The new collision engine allows for faster movement with any clipping problems.
- New movement actions available! Move, Jump and Wall Jump wasn't enough. Now you can: Duck [Hold Down on Ground], Super Jump [Duck for around 0.5 sec and jump], Ground Pound [Press Down in Air], Pound Jump [Press A when falling during a ground pound], Slow falling/Parachute [Hold Up]
- New particle system!
- 2 Color Ink engine! Each block use only 1 byte (2 bit/4 value for each wall) + 1 bit (Color) [To change color in the demo version, Hold A and Press C]
- Blinking! Characters now blink!
- Hats and Hats Physics! The final game will have a hat shop will multiple hats. [To change hat in the demo version, Hold B and Press C]
- Aiming! Currently, the aiming mode doesn't shoot anything, it colors the surrounding area around the cursor using the current ink color. To enter aiming mode: [Hold B]. You'll keep your horizontal velocity, To shoot: [Press A], To aim: [Use arrow]. The aiming is mirrored to make it simpler.

I have need information available!
Leveling system and currency: Each game mode rewards you with coins and Experience. The maximum level possible is 99, the bigger your level is, the harder your games will be. The better your score is, the bigger your Experience reward will be. Coins can be used to buy weapons at the shop, hats and food (food can be used to level up faster).
Games modes:
Turf war, the team that ink the most amount of turf in their own color wins.
Pro matches, info coming soon
Bot war, The Robots that were created to help Boxes turn out to be reprogrammed as killer AI by R.O.D.O.T. ROBOT Inc. Help your boss to clean this mess up and collect the amount of microchips needed in time without dying. If one of your teammates die, ink him quickly to bring it back to action. If all of teammates dies, it ends there.

A new demo is available: You can now swim in the ink of your own team color! Hold [Down] to swim, [Down] + [R/L Arrow] to swim up a wall.
Other changes:
- Fixed some bugs
- You can no longer jump and you're now slowed when the player is on his enemies ink.
- Removed ducking and duck-jumping actions.
- The parachute action no longer push the player down when it's velocity is going up.

I decided to change to characters of the games. Now It's no longer a rip-off but a 2D port of Splatoon

The robot war mode was replaced Splatoon 2's Salmon Run. Some sprite will be coming son. Also, the name is now Splatoon Meta to fit the new characters change.

I don't think nintendo would be particularly thrilled if you just use their name, and thus IP like that, so I'd recommend picking a name which doesn't contain "splatoon"

I wasn't planning to change anything unless nintendo wants me to but the more I think of it... Splatbuino? Splatuino? I want the name to be related to it and not completly different

I like Splatuino as title it's short and it's good for me. You can easy understand that is something like Splatoon but it's not a stolen name. I was like you when i have try to code the game 'parachute' i didn't think about Nintendo as there is alot g&w emulators and i think that it's now in the public domain but i should have think about that before too to avoid problems ...
Your game will be able to play as muliplayers ?

For the number of players, I'll start with 2vs2 and If I can I'll do 3vs3 or 4vs4. You can play against bots in the classic mode, but I'll probably add a real multiplayer feature later. Same thing for the Salmon Run mode.

The game engine needs a ton of improvement. I'm currently re-coding the game to support a better particle system, bullets and multiplayer.

Nice news 2vs2 is great, more is fine too but already 2 real humans in vs or coop is already good, managing 3 or 4 real humans in 2 teams or vs great too and more players are unusual. I hope you'll success find solutions, it's could be a fine multiplayer game.

It depends on the size of the map. I don't want it to be too crowded but bigger maps takes longer to make.
